About Sharon:
Sharon Moore, formerly known by her dance name Mahirimah, has studied many forms of dance and movement throughout her life, including jazz, modern, ballet, and gymnastics; however, her heart and soul is in tribal style belly dance. Since discovering bellydance, she has studied with many instructors spanning diverse styles of Middle Eastern Dance and related ethnic dances, developing in her a deep respect for all interpretations of this ancient dance form, and inspiring her to incorporate these influences into her eclectic style of performance and instruction. She is a certified instructor of the Gypsy Caravan tribal style, having completed a mentorship with director Paulette Rees-Denis in 2001, and as such, is now the only certified tribal belly dance instructor in Washington State. She will begin pursuing her next level of Gypsy Caravan teacher certification in 2003, and is studying the Suhaila Salimpour format with hopes of certifying Level I in the coming year.

In addition to being a co-director of inFusion Tribal Belly Dance , she is director of her own student troupe, Shaia Tribe - Wild Tribal Belly Dance , who perform at artist-friendly venues around the city. Sharon is highly active in the Seattle belly dance community, producing and performing at local events, organizing workshops and other educational opportunities in the Seattle area, and maintaining several informational web sites. Sharon is the author of the column "Of The Tribe", which was a feature in the widely distributed tribal belly dance journal Caravan Trails, from 2001-2003; and has written various articles for other publications such as The Gilded Serpent , and the new edition of The Tribal Bible by Kajira Djoumahna. For her "day job", Sharon is the owner of Mandala Tribal--home of Kamikaze Costumes, specializing in hand-made tribal costumes and accessories, as well as a wide selection of tribal and fusion music, books, videos, and much more.

Sharon is a nurturing teacher with a great sense of humor who loves to help students succeed. She finds that the sense of community created with tribal belly dance is a uniquely beautiful and empowering force in her life, and she is honored and thrilled to be sharing this experience with her dance sisters! She can be found taking workshops every chance she gets, studying videos and articles voraciously, and otherwise constantly working to expand her knowledge of this art form she loves.

Tribal is all about dancing together so we will learn some different ways to improvise in a group, and build on the steps and combinations we learned in the morning.
